It’s been 30 years since I worked with Vanessa at CUNY Law, but I still have such vivid memories of her ability to simultaneously see the big picture in unique ways, explain it using clear examples, excavate the most minute details of every document or decision, offer insightful critiques to all comers, maintain a sense of fun and welcome for all justice seekers, and deliver forceful rejoinders to all those opposing justice. I strive every day to reach a standard she lived every day. My condolences to Steve, the family, and the many friends, colleagues and others who will be missing her but also celebrating a life well lived.
